LT Tara Cozzarelli is the mild traumatic brain injury (TBI) nurse educator within the TBI Clinical Standards of Care directorate of the Defense Centers of Excellence for Psychological Health and Traumatic Brain Injury (DCoE) located in Silver Spring, MD.    
After receiving her nursing degree from The Catholic University of America in 2001, LT Cozzarelli received a commission in the United States Navy as a nurse corps officer.  LT Cozzarelli served more than 4 ½ years in the Navy working as a medical-surgical and psychiatric-mental health nurse at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD.  In addition, LT Cozzarelli deployed twice with the USNS Comfort, one of the Navy’s two hospital ships – to the Persian Gulf at the beginning of Operation Iraqi Freedom and in response to Hurricane Katrina.  She also deployed to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba for six months.  LT Cozzarelli received her commission as an USPHS commission corps officer in July 2007 and served at NIH prior to her assignment at DCoE. 

LT Cozzarelli is currently enrolled in Drexel University’s College of Medicine where she is pursuing her Master of Science in Clinical Research Organization and Management.
