LCDR Tran currently works as Program Management Officer in Storage Area Network Branch in the FDA, Office of Information Management. LCDR Tran is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the FDA Computer Systems and SAN Network. LCDR Tran provides information technology support to the FDA in the form of managing the SAN local area network, maintaining and providing system support to allow FDA users and scientists to meet their project's deadlines. She also provides expert technical advice, guidance and strategies governing the planning and delivering of technical specification on critical IT issues.
LCDR Tran has been an officer in the U.S. Public Health Service for almost 4 years. She is currently involved with the Corps in other areas including COA, IT-PAG, HS-PAC, APAOC, DC-COA, JOAC, and PHS-1 RDF. Specifically, she serves as a Discipline Liaison for the Health Services Professional Advisory Committee (HSPAC) of the United States Public Health Service (USPHS) to represent Health Services Officers (HSO) since 2007. As a member of Legislation and Benefits Committee under National COA, she reviews and makes recommendations on COA Legislative agendas, memos before the COA Board of Directors meeting. LCDR Tran serves as Awards Committee lead for the JOAG Website. She was a chair for Professional Development sub-committee of Information Technology Professional Advisory Group (ITPAG) in 2007-2008; and she has been active in PHS 1 RDF for almost 3 years. LCDR Tran has served as a chair, webmaster for DC-COA website since 2005.
LCDR Tran graduated with a Computer Science degree in 1999. She earned her Master of Network and Communication in 2008, and her Master of Business Administration in June 2009.
LCDR Tran is a highly motivated officer. In her current position at the FDA, she successfully manages multiple applications at any given time. Thus, she is no stranger to multi-tasking. Her time management and organizational skills have been lauded by supervisors as well as co-workers alike. Her goal is to become more involved with the DC-COA. She would like to potentially hold an officer’s position, and she feels that this position is a great entry point to becoming involved on that level.
