2022 Winterhaven for Veterans: Boots and Shoes Donations

Description: On behalf of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (Washington, DC) Medical Center (DCVAMC), we are seeking ‘in-kind’ support in the form of new boots & shoes for our 2022 Winterhaven/Stand Down.

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) in the District of Columbia, is hosting a New Boots/Shoes collection for homeless female and male veterans and the distribution will take place on Saturday, November 5, 2022, (7:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.). The VAMC is located at: 50 Irving Street, NW, Washington, DC 20422. The COVID-19/Delta-Variant Pandemic has had a devastating impact on our homeless veterans, veterans transitioning from homelessness to stable housing, and underserved veterans and their families. Subsequently, the need for assistance to our vulnerable homeless and underserved female and male veteran population, and their families, has increased exponentially. Your tax deductible ‘in-kind’ donation of new Boots/Shoes, will go a long way to assist our homeless Veterans, Veterans at-risk of homelessness, and Veterans transitioning from homelessness to stable housing. New Boots/Shoes donations will be accepted beginning Monday, September 19, 2022 thru Wednesday, November 2, 2022. Boot/Shoe sizes needed – Men: (91/2 – 15), Women: (81/2 – 12) Please note, that we will not accept cash donations, only donations of new boots and shoes, and because of podiatry/health reasons we are not able to accept gently used/used donations. Donations of new boots and shoes are considered a taxable donation (501C3) for which a donation receipt can be provided, if requested. Please coordinate all donation drop-offs with Mr. Jeffery Bozeman of the VAMC (Office of Community and Civic Engagement). You may also contact Mr. Bozeman to arrange pick-up of new boot and shoe donations on behalf of your agency.
