Call for Volunteers to Join the DC COA Social Media and Youth Mental Health Subcommittee by Friday, October 4, 2024



Are you passionate about youth mental health and its connection to social media? The DC COA Community Outreach Committee is launching the Social Media and Youth Mental Health Subcommittee, and we are seeking dedicated officers to join us. The subcommittee will focus on educating our community on the impact of social media on youth and promoting positive mental health.

 

Who We are Looking For: We welcome officers from diverse backgrounds, including:

 

  • Mental Health Professionals – Psychologist, counselors, or social workers who can provide expertise and insights into youth mental health

  • Community Outreach Event Coordinators – Build partnerships with Professional Advisory Committees (PAC) and Chartered Advisory Groups (e.g., PACE, APAOC, JOAG)

  • Communications Specialist – Promote information on healthy social media use and youth well-being via PHS social media platforms

 

What We Will Do:

 

  • Plan community events – Raise awareness and educate on how youth can navigate social media in a healthy and balanced manner

  • Develop strategies to promote youth mental well-being on PHS social media platforms
